SacredBod's longer take on Liposomal Glutathione — context the structured blocks above don't capture.
Liposomal glutathione is reduced L-glutathione (GSH) encapsulated in phospholipid vesicles (liposomes). This delivery system protects GSH from degradation by intestinal peptidases and enhances cellular uptake, addressing the primary limitation of standard oral glutathione supplements.
Standard oral GSH has poor bioavailability because it is rapidly broken down by gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase and dipeptidases in the gut and liver. Liposomal encapsulation shields GSH during transit and facilitates absorption via intestinal lymphatics and direct cellular uptake. Once inside cells, GSH serves as the master antioxidant, detoxifying reactive oxygen species and conjugating with toxins for elimination.
Who benefits most
Adults with high oxidative stress, liver burden, or those seeking to raise glutathione status more effectively than with standard oral GSH.
Dosage and form
250 mg is the typical effective range. Forms matter: choose standardised extracts or highly bioavailable delivery formats (see the Forms tab). Take as directed.
Side effects and cautions
Generally well-tolerated. Better absorbed than oral glutathione. Avoid if you: No major contraindications. Those with sulfur metabolism disorders should consult a physician. Liposomal products may contain soy lecithin—avoid if soy-allergic..
The evidence
Human clinical trials and mechanistic research support the use of Liposomal Glutathione for its primary indication. See the Research tab for full citations and study summaries.
